In a world where everything is disposable or designed to be temporary it’s nice to look back at the past and see that things were made to last in those days.
However, the passage of the years often makes a nice piece of furniture shabby, showing its age with knocks and marks and damaged finishes.
These pieces tend to be discarded as they aren’t as pretty as they once were, despite the fact they were often made of quality woods by craftsmen. And they end up in landfill – generating polluting methane gas and their replacement has a huge carbon footprint having been shipped halfway round the world.
At Teapots & Roses we are committed to preserve these lovely old pieces of furniture – vintage rather than antique, and not valuable because of their age but valued because they were built with love and expertise by people who cared.
We hope we can inspire you to paint your own furniture, or commission us to paint your furniture for you, or to find a piece that suits your style and home.
We specialise in Shabby Chic / French-style hand painting and waxing, giving a lovely worn look that improves with age. We use very environment-friendly paint that dries quickly and comes in a fabulous range of stock colours and can also be custom-mixed.
We will be adding pictures of our pieces in the next few days. All are one-offs. We don’t import ready-painted pieces from the Far East: we search second-hand shops and flea markets for vintage interesting pieces to reclaim, repurpose and refinish.
